A new financial product rewards customers with higher interest rates the more electricity they save.
On May 12, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the launch of the “Energy-Saving Do-Dream Installment Savings Account” in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank Korea.
This savings product offers up to an additional 3.5% interest rate based on the reduction in electricity usage during the six-month period from June to November, compared to the same period in the previous year. It is structured as a one-year maturity savings account with a monthly deposit cap of KRW 1 million.
The base interest rate is 2.6% annually. An additional 1.1% is available through general preferential conditions such as payroll transfers, and up to 3.5% more can be earned based on the user’s electricity reduction rate. A reduction of more than 0% but less than or equal to 5% earns an additional 1.5%, while reductions exceeding 5% receive the full 3.5% bonus.
Applications are open from May 12 to 23 via SC Bank Korea’s mobile app. Users can verify their electricity usage through the Green Architecture Portal (www.greentogether.go.kr).
The ministry is utilizing the National Building Energy Integrated Management System to support the launch of various financial products and plans to strengthen cooperation with financial institutions so that more benefits can be offered based on energy savings.
Unlike previous offerings which targeted small businesses, this new product is open to all citizens. Quarterly events will continue throughout the year to maximize participation and ensure that as many people as possible can benefit from energy-saving incentives.

이 상품은 6월부터 11월까지 6개월간 전년 동기 대비 전기 에너지 절감량에 따라 최대 3.5%까지 추가 우대이율을 제공하는 적금 이벤트 상품이다.
해당 상품은 1년 만기 적금으로, 월 납입 한도는 100만 원이다. 기본 이율은 연 2.6%이며, 급여이체 등 일반 우대이율 1.1%, 여기에 현재 거주지의 에너지사용량 절감률에 따라 추가 우대이율을 받을 수 있다. 0% 초과~5%이하는 1.5%, 5% 초과는 3.5%의 추가 우대이율이 적용된다.
가입 신청은 12일부터 23일까지 SC제일은행 모바일 앱을 통해 가능하며, 거주지의 전기에너지 사용량 정보는 녹색건축포털 누리집(www.greentogether.go.kr)에서 확인할 수 있다.
국토교통부는 국가 건물에너지 통합관리시스템에 구축된 건물에너지 사용량 정보를 활용하여 다양한 금융상품 출시를 지원하고 있으며, 향후 건물에너지 절감 시 금융혜택이 더 많이 제공될 수 있도록 금융기관과 지속적으로 협력해 나갈 예정이다.
특별히 이번에 출시되는 상품은 중소기업을 대상으로 지원했던 이전의 상품들과는 달리 전 국민을 대상으로 에너지절감에 따른 금융혜택을 제공하는 이벤트로 최대한 많은 국민에게 혜택을 제공하기 위해 올해 말까지 매 분기마다 이벤트를 추진해 나갈 예정이다.
