Hwaseong City has attempted various policies, including one-stop vaccinations for unregistered foreigners and the operation of visiting vaccine buses, to increase foreign vaccinations, and found that the number of foreign vaccinations for COVID-19 is the highest in the country.

Hwaseong City announced on the 18th that as of the 18th, the number of registered foreigners vaccinated against COVID-19 was 42,705 and the number of unregistered foreigners was 9,067, the highest number in the country.

These figures are far higher than those in nearby Siheung-city (41,225 registered, 5,017 unregistered), Danwon-gu, Ansan-city (39,419 registered, 3,085 unregistered), and Sangnok-gu, Ansan (13,376 registered, 821 unregistered).

In particular, various foreign vaccination policies of Hwaseong City aimed at curbing the spread of foreigners were estimated very effective and enabled Hwaseong City secured more than 9,000 vaccinations in a short period of time despite the difficulty in discovering and inducing unregistered foreigners to be vaccinated.

In order to curb the spread of COVID-19 through foreigners, Hwaseong-city has issued an administrative order for total inspection of foreign workers since March and issued an administrative order for foreign employment companies in the southern part of Hwaseong-city from August to perform diagnostic checks.

In addition, as the number of confirmed foreigners surged in September, efforts were made to increase the vaccination rate of foreigners through the wimplementation of the "unregistered one-stop vaccination service" that provides vaccinations to unregistered foreigners over the age of 30.

Kim Yeon-hee, head of the Hwaseong City Health Center, said, "We will continue to work together to ensure that foreigners who are registered and unregistered are vaccinated," adding, "We will do our best to create collective immunity for foreigners in the jurisdiction."

 화성시는 18일 현재 등록 외국인의 코로나19 백신 접종자수는 42,705명, 미등록 외국인 접종자수는 9,067명으로 전국 최고의 접종자수를 나타냈다고 밝혔다. 

 이 같은 수치는 외국인 근로자가 대거 몰려있는 인근 시흥시(등록 41,225명, 미등록 5,017명)와 안산시단원구(등록 39,419명, 미등록 3,085명), 안산 상록구(등록 13,376명, 미등록 821명) 등과 비교해도 월등히 높다. 

 특히 화성시가 미등록 외국인의 발굴과 접종유도가 어려운 상황임에도 불구하고 단기간 내에 9천명 이상의 백신접종자수를 확보하게 된 것은 외국인을 통한 지역 확산을 억제하고자 실시했던 다양한 외국인 백신접종 정책이 효과적이었다는 평가다. 

 화성시는 외국인을 통한 코로나19 지역 확산을 억제하고자 지난 3월부터 외국인노동자 전수검사 행정명령을 실시하고 8월부터는 화성시 남부권 소재 외국인 고용기업체를 대상으로 진단검사 이행 행정명령을 발동하는 등 관내 외국인을 대상으로 검사와 접종에 총력을 기울였다. 

 아울러 지난 9월 외국인 확진자가 급증함에 따라 30세 이상 미등록 외국인을 대상으로 접종센터 현장 접수 후 바로 접종을 시행하는 ‘미등록 외국인 원스톱 예방접종 서비스’의 시행을 통해 외국인들의 접종률을 높이기 위해 노력했다.    

 김연희 화성시 보건소장은 “외국인고용업체 및 직업소개소에 지속적인 협조를 통해 등록‧미등록 외국인들의 백신 접종이 지속적으로 이뤄질 수 있도록 노력하겠다”며 “관내 외국인들의 집단면역 생성을 위해서도 최선을 다 하겠다”고 말했다.
